I beg most respectfully to bring to your
notice the following facts in connection with my quarters
and to request that you will be good enough to forward my
application for the favourable consideration of H. E. the
Officer Acainistering the Government.
The house in qustion is occupied by the two
Junk Inspectors, Office Coolies and myself. The Junk Inspect
ors have the second floor and I the first Underneath y ro
Os re the quarters for Coolies and a place for the Govern
ment Fire Engine.

The first Junk Inspector having large fani
ly is unable to live in t..e quarters, so with the perission
of the Harbour Master he has let them and is only ably to
obtain $96 a year owing to the bad locality in which the
house is situated.
In 1875 y quarters were valued at $336 a
assessed at $420 a year by the year and last year they were Government Assessor, at the same time I do not think he coul
have taken notice of the surroundings.
Since 1875 the house has been entirely closed
in by Chinese buildings, a very narrow street faces the front
