Harbour Departuent.

Hong-Kong, 2nu, July, 189 1,

629

I beg most respectfully to bring to your

notice the following facts in connection with my quarters

and to request that you will be good enough to forward my

application for the favourable consideration of H. E. the

Officer Acainistering the Government.

The house in qustion is occupied by the two

Junk Inspectors, Office Coolies and myself. The Junk Inspect

ors have the second floor and I the first Underneath y ro

Os re the quarters for Coolies and a place for the Govern

ment Fire Engine.

يت

The first Junk Inspector having large fani

ly is unable to live in t..e quarters, so with the perission

of the Harbour Master he has let them and is only ably to

obtain $96 a year owing to the bad locality in which the

house is situated.

In 1875 y quarters were valued at $336 a

assessed at $420 a year by the year and last year they were Government Assessor, at the same time I do not think he coul

have taken notice of the surroundings.

Since 1875 the house has been entirely closed

in by Chinese buildings, a very narrow street faces the front
